Too lazy to pollinate the eggplant so will see if we get anything there.

Now where would you be if your parents had that attitude? Get out there and do your duty.

pumpkins and zuchs

Attachments:
File comment: nice zuchs. Pick one off each bush every 3-4 days. Just enough to keep a few in the fridge at all times.

File comment: 4.5 kilos in 12 little pumpkins. Most are 400 grams, some are 300 grams. I let them ripen inside so the plants produce more fruit.

Do the pumpkins ripen up OK off the vine TT.... always thought they wouldn't and that you waited until the stem withered.... then you could store them for ages???

Hoping so Rupe, otherwise i have stuffed up! Tried to leave an inch of stem on each one. Intend to leave them for another month and will crack into a couple. The earlier picked ones have continued to colour up nicely, so fingers crossed.
Fil, still heard nothing from Epping?

This season 12 pumpkins, next time...a box overflowing :D

I'm a bit with Rope on not pulling them off the vine until they have ripened, interested in how they go too TT (taking one for the team  )

Part way towards solving future fingerling space issues today. Was sniffing around the store room of a country golf club looking for a bloke and hit pay dirt.

Found an old stainless steel 8 door decommissioned freezer. Measures 2m by 2m by 1.25m deep. I make that 5000 lts. Old but in great nick. Asked the question, to be told they are happy to get rid of it to whoever wants to pick it up. Cost, zero. Thank you very much.

I will lie it on its back and remove the fan motor, replacing with a viewing window. This window will be about 40cm square on one side.

Inside wall is gal sheeting. I will need to paint this with the magic black stuff and let it cure. The braces for shelving will mean I can divide the tank into 4 equal parts.

So, spawn in the milk vat, get them on the cysts filled with chlorella paste. Grade into 2 of the divisions in new tank before winter and get them on the dust. Then grade again in early spring and get them on the organic pellets b4 having them ready to offload b4 chrissy. Sounds like a plan.

Hmmm, if i grade into that new tank, I can buy some trout for the milkvat over winter/spring. Need to get those new gbs finished.

Need to get my crap together and just do it.

TT, if you put different sized grills between each of your four sections you might manage to get a self-grading tank

goddamn brilliant Jaymie. The freezer still has the shelves intact and i wondered if i could modify them for grading. Didn't think beyond that, was too excited!

Exactly what I'm trying to build for the big tank I got Jaymie....

Two different sized vertical grates to hang inside.... slide the "big" grate toward one end as the fish grow.... then repeat or partition so that fingerlings can be put into a third of the tank.

Have you seen this done at all Jaymie?

I had wondered how you could expect the big fish to move, before they got too big to fit... I guess feeding at one end, and then the other would work, after all, you don't want the little fish coming to visit the biguns and getting et do you?
hmmm interesting... If one had nasty carnivorous fish, GP, barra etc, how would you stop the bubbas from venturing through the big grill to be et?
