this is all in the info section but...................

GH is the measure of magnesium and calcium ions

KH is the measure of carbonate (cat)ions

so calcium carbonate will add to both where as sodium bicarbonate will add to only KH

"normal" salt will add to neither

getting back to how much salt to put in................

i'd use 1ppt as a preventative and stress reliever 3ppt for a treatment.......

almost all plants are good at 1ppt, some struggle at 3

think he means if he is using an isolation tank that is remote to the plants and GBs then dose to 4ppt

This is good, I am seeing things much more clearer tonight  (doesn't mean I am right tho  )

If water being tested is not connected to growbeds with plants, then dose with 4pp.
That's how I read it anyhow.

perhaps 'not connected to growbeds' could be 'far from the growbeds' but I don't see how that'd make a difference

also dont forget that each fish will have a salinity tolerance range.

going above this will do more harm tan good.

thats another reason why i like the trout ;) don't mind the salt!

I'm talking silvers, which is what skygazer is getting and yes, when saying remote of plants I meant in a seperate system for quarantine.

Funny Steve, I laugh at, but can usually read Chinglish on packaging quite fluently ;-)
