We all seem to have some sort of 'quirk' or another which lets our friends know that we are TRUELY addicted to aquaponics... now is your chance to share them with others...

I bought my Daughter a sandbox as a slightly early birthday gift today, and like a good father I brought it home, got the tools out and carefully put it together.... when it was finished I stood back to look it over and realised that it would make a lovely pond, and could EASILY have growbeds added to it, and even had a seperate place for an external pump.....
No I tell you, I dont have aquaponics on the mind all the time!;)

I've spent a fortune on building different systems... I spend all day everyday talking and thinking about it, wrote a book about it. I film it, photograph it, make websites about it, gave my job up to do it more.... Just flew over to Melbourne to see it and hear others speak about it...

I don't think I have any quirks about aquaponics though, and I'm definately not addicted.... :? :sad1:

I'm going to move the computer into the family room from the office so I can spend some time with my family, before the kids have grown up and left home without me realising

I opted not to buy coffee (an addiction) so I could get some screws for a system. Priorities!

Every opportunity for a 'night out' I used to take up I stay home, keep the money for materials, and study things fishy all night.

Over the last 6 months or so I've had to force myself to 'get a life' outside of Aquaponics, and to pretend I'm interested in other things when people are talking

From being out 5 nights a week viewing promoting and performing in shows, to holed up in my flat full time doing aquaponic stuff, leaving only for work and groceries and parts.

Aquaponics consumes nearly all of my time and resources, it has retarded my social life and skills, and consumes my every thought.

There is only one chance for me to reclaim my life

A revised 12 step.....

The 12 Steps of Aquaponics Anonymous

1. We must admit that we are powerless over Aquaponics, and that our Wives/partners have become unmanageable.

2. We must believe that a power greater than ourselves (The DPI&F) could land us in deep water.

3. Must make a decision to turn our time and our test kits over to the care of our wives, using them only if and when we were allowed to.

4. Must make a search and fearless inventory of our sheds and car trunk, handing over the rest of the PVC pipes, feed and test kits too.

5. Admit to God, to ourselves, and to another human being, the exact size and nature of our last system and the fish there in.

6. Be entirely ready to be laughed at by our mates (if any still exsist).

7. Humbly ask our wives/partners to explain our shortcomings (put aside a week or so for this).

8. Make a list of all species we have reared, and became willing to stock others which our partners suggest.

9. Make direct amends with gifts of grubs, bugs and pellets, except when the wife wants to do something else.

10. Continue to listen to our wives inventory, and when we are wrong, promptly admitted it.

11.Seek through beer and recreation to re-establish our conscious contact with Man, though we may never understand him again.

12. Having had a rude awakening as the result of our wives, partners and family , try to carry this message to other Aquaaddicts, and to practise these principles in all our affairs.

God, grant me the Serenity, to Accept the systems I cannot stock, Courage to be content with small ones, and the Wisdom to know when the wife is watching.

YEAH RIGHT[/glow]

Fortunately the kids can fend for themselves.
LOL.
Hate the fact that we could become a 4 comp family.
Send each other emails when dinner is ready.
Better still give up eating until the fish can be harvested.
(get my fish batch next week!!!!!!!!)
