Bugger - didn't remember that bit. Bloody bets are off then. Stupid bet - cos this sort of thing is always locally controlled anyway - state or council.

LOL here they tax you for the rain run-off. If you have lots of pavement or roof to yard% you are taxed more because more of it runs off your property~ which they claim overloads the waste water sewer system. Yes they do call it waste water. But everybody pays the tax even if you can prove that none of it leaves your property.

Just tell them you are borrowing the water, it will go back to the system eventually unless someone can figure a way for water not to evaporate...

Poor buggers up the North Coast have just suffered a big flood....

The insurance companies are now arguing that it was the water rising (flood) not the water falling (storm) than was the cause of peoples property inundations.....

Therefore they're not covered under the storm damage provisions in their policies......

Hows that for a bit of spin

Just as well they're not in Kansas eh DRD.... they'd end up having to pay for the water subsiding as well .... :D

I always said that when they figure out how to measure it they will tax it no matter what the it is. Next will be the air you breathe and the air you pass.

I always figured that if you get a rainwater tank AND accept the current govt. subsidy, then you need to expect to have a bill in the future. Especially here, when if you buy a tank with the subsidy, part of the deal is you agree to a meter being installed on the tap...

The whole lot of this is a croc of @%# IMHO, if you want a rain water tank get one, if the deal is getting a meter for amount used then BFH the meter (Big %$^&@*# Hammer). How can people say you use water that will go to natural sources when we pump water from dams etc back to our houses (at a charged rate) and send it to the sewage ponds for evaporation.

We are also told not to water our gardens/lawns etc except on nominated days, fair enough, But big business can do what they want.

I have worked in the past for earthmoving companies who in turn worked for the biggest mine here in Kal, they have a stand pipe connected to the main grid (water corp) this pipe fills water trucks to water down the gravel roads around site for dust suppression ????????? (this is treated drinking water)

When the people concerned get concerned enough I will listen, until then may every one get a rain water tank and stuff the pollies (rant over) :D

i can't see how a tax on rain water will work, because they can't measure exactly how much fell on my roof. this gives everyone plenty of room to wiggle out of it. IF it ever came to pass i'll just say no measurable water fell on my roof.
besides, it's counter productive and will draw unwanted attention to the state governments failure to manage the populations water needs to start with.

my prediction, is if they ever get serious about this they will back down when the heat is on them.

Thats why a meter on the output of the tank is wanted, they think it will be monitored???
