You can never "over-engineer" the serious pursuit of the pisceatorial foe KP..... :D

Each rod/reel has a specific target/purpose.

I like how the aquaponic shed doubles as an office with desk and chair, very organised, is that the record keeping dept?

The latest on my hare brained scheme(wife`s words).:binky:
Will be picking up 4 growbeds of Joel`s whenever he`s ready and gets some supply`s in.

Instead of digging out my shed to house my IBC`s will convert to a CHIFT PIST system and have them standing on the shed floor allowing me to expand another IBC if needed.
Gravity then feeds to 50mm pipe plumbed at the bottom of IBC`s up to a horizontal pipe at water level of the IBC`s ,a breather pipe to stop a siphon starting then overflowing out & down with risers to beds in 20-25 mm?:dontknow:
The beds will then flood & drain with auto siphons back to sump.My water mechanics is dubious at best so any advice appreciated.

The plan being to pump around 3000 lph into top of IBC`s to get all the water cycled once per hour.Ive picked up a 6000lph pump that should do the job with a bit extra so I can tee off to run some strawberry towers.
The 90mm drain shown will most likely not be there I`ll run separate drains from each bed to the sump.

Can anyone pick any holes in this design for me please.

A couple of things Lungy. I think your sump will turn out to be too small. Also it will be interesting to see how you go with getting the bell siphons to reliably dump into that drain pipe that is heading back to the sump. It was that aspect that in the end tipped Aussiponic away from Chift Pist. I think it can be done - but may just be a bit of a fiddle. The issue you won't get over is the sump one. ON the odd occassion all beds are flooded at once they will hold close to 1000 litres. Factor in evaporation adn transpiration as well as depth needed to pump and you are stuffed.

Yep, Sump would have to be a fair bit bigger. Also, is your pump rated for continuous operation? You can have a CHIFT PIST system without siphons, just using a standpipe and timer, thats how my system used to be set up, if your pump isn;t rated, or you don't want to fiddle with the siphons.

I think every design is being altered so that the fishtank height is constant, and the most logical place for a pump is the sump. If it ever related to a specific design, I think the term is broadening to encompass most systems.
