Monya, the thing with not having any soil, and having water that flows constantly through all of the tanks, is that there really is no need for rotation. Good question, and one I have thought about a bit...

One of my biggest issues is the dreaded slug, they love the growbeds and they are very hard to get rid of... Between crops I flood the bed for a while to try and flush all the slugs out from the gravel, this works fairly well..

Have you tried the beer snail traps? I wonder if you could somehow lure them out - perhaps they would make a nice meal for the fish.

I found this recipe for a slug bait - the yeast lures them out apparently:

2 tablespoons of flour, 1 teaspoon of sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of baker's yeast in 2 cups of warm water

Place it in a container where they can crawl into, with the rim of the container at ground level. They climb in and die a happy death.

Another slug trap is an inverted half grapefruit rind. They crawl inside during the night. You have to do the killing yourself.

Yes, I did use beer traps for a while, but damn I was losing a lot of good beer to the slugs... The slugs that I have are only a very small one, they don't grow to a full normal sized slug. They generally aren't too bad, usually plant growth will outstrip the slug damage anyway.

Guess I'm just too lazy to keep up repeated attacks on the little buggers.... :?

I know what you mean. The slugs in my basil patch are the best fed, most contented slugs in the street. I might try to find some bakers yeast tomorrow and try out the bait and drown method.
