here is a drawing I made of a low head CHIFT PIST system using no horizontal pipes, only gutters which can be used for NFT reducing energy to a minimum Attachment: greetings frank |

Very interesting Frank... a couple of questions... The drain pipe in the growbed, it appears to be open, but then "elbow" to the bell siphon.... if so ... then what purpose does it serve?? Or is it capped and drilled to allow the bed to drain?... Will the top NFT gutter - return to fish tank be used for plants? And what exactly is the solar chimney for counter current ventilation? |

And what exactly is the solar chimney for counter current ventilation? the drain pipe in the growbed can be a half pipe or drilled, it just serves to avoid media to flow to the drain and to allow an equal flow to the drain from all sides of the growbed which is drawn as rather large ah, yessss, the return NFT gutter and the possible problems of roots blocking it... I would only use both NFT gutters for plants that are quickly harvested (salads, etc...) or for starting seedlings greets frank |
