Hi guys im trying to install uniseals for the gb and ft. FT - do i have the uniseal with the flat side on the outside or the inside? GB - do i have it with flat side in the GB or outside of the GB? Their website is down so cant check it myself  Cheers |

The larger side is the side that you insert the pipe into. Whether that be inside or out is up to you. |

as i understand it, you want the flat side on the side that will be under pressure. i think this generally means inside. You want the pressure to push the uniseal to work better, rather than constantly pushing the uniseal away (if that makes sense). If there is no pressure, then it's whatever way is easiest. |

On my fish tank I have the "flat side" on the outside. For the stand pipe in the grow bed I have the "flat side" facing up and have pushed the stand pipe down from the top (hope that description can be understood) No leaks or problems what so ever. |

Their website wouldn't tell you anyway.... Pretty much all of the ones we have used were with the flat side on the outside, because that is where we were inserting the pipe from.. |

Uniseals are rated to deal with negative Pressure. Ie pressure is on the outside. Uniseals instructions say that the larger deride is where the penetrating pipe is inserted from. If it is as Silkcom has suggested then the larger side would be on the outside when used in siphons but on the inside of pipe to pipe pressurised systems. This would mean that the pipe would need to be inserted from inside the pipe which is clearly not posible with a rigid pipe. |

Does anyone have the specs on the out side dimension of uniseals? Ie how big is the out side flange diameter? |

Stuart here's something I drew up, it's for a 50mm Uniseal, it might give you some idea.  Note: the drawing and sizes are an approximate image only.

Thanks Joblow. Now I just need them for all the other sizes.  There various sites I've been looking at don't seem to have the full range. Its been a while since I looked at them but I can't seem to find the sizes that suit the DWV range or the metric poly range. The one you posted is a good example. I think Fresh by Design has them but since they are not very specific with their listings its hard to tell. The metric poly pipe sizes are in mm ODs of 32, 50, 75, 90, 110, 160mm |

Not entirely. I can see that the hdpe 160mm and 110mm corresponds with the DWV 150mm and 100mm. The uniseals for them are I think the U600-35 and the U400-35. I guess the pressure 65mm PVC uniseal corresponds with the 75mm HDPE. umm... HDPE Equiv 20mm Pressure 15mm 25mm Pressure 20mm 32mm Pressure 25mm 40mm ? 50mm Pressure 40mm 75mm Pressure 65mm 90mm Pressure 80mm 110mm DWV 100mm 160mm DWV 150mm Still need to get the corresponding uniseal model numbers to suit. |
