Still in planning stage but I have a question that I haven't seen discussed in any research I've done, that is, is there any reason why I shouldn't use an external pump for the sump? Everyone seems to use submersables. I have a few good quality pumps on hand, prolly a bit of overkill with volume but better than not enough. Your thoughts or knowledge greatly appreciated. |

Hi Bushy, and welcome. No reason you can't use the one you have, just a bit power hungry. So put it on a timer to cut back power usage. If you look at Fish&Food system you will see where he has used a swimming pool pump. |

Yeah, so long as the pumps aren't so big that your wasting loads of power, external pumps work fine... |
