Hi all, I have been talking to Todd from Cribpoint and he asked how I made my Sand and Gravel Filter.. Well the initial design is Not Mine I just Borrowed all the information from I true pond design legend from the US.. The Wed site is.. http://www.koiphen.com/forums/ and the thread for the Topic is.. http://www.koiphen.com/forums/showthrea ... vel-Filter Now the Part that I have incorporated in My pond system is the use of a Shell Grit instead of the sand in the final section of Filling the Sand and Gravel filter.. - The Shell Grit helps me to maintain a constant pH in my pond.. - The Shell Grit needs to be replaced as it does get consumed over time.. Over all the S&G helps to clean out the fines out of the water.. So as a means of filtering the water to go into NFT's or raft beds might be the choice.. The Sand and Gravel Filter NEEDS to be PUMP FEED.. you can not do gravity flow.. It does not work. Also to get away from Drilling a Hole in the Bottom of the Barrel you can use a Inflow Pipe to the Bottom of the Barrel with a diffuser to disperse the water across the Bottom of the Barrel.. The Sand Filter needs to be cleaned out to help remove the solids that have been accumulating into over time.. so you will Lose a Bit of Water.. But the Water you use to Flush the filter you can use it for your Dirt Garden.. Also the Web site does have a Lot of other Filter types.. Check out.. http://www.koiphen.com/forums/showthrea ... n-Stickies Juergen |

You would need a worm that can handle full submersion 24/7.. as you should have waer flowing all the time.. Juergen |

Worms breathe oxygen in the moisture on their skin. As long as their is oxygen in the water they will survive. |
