The poly system I mentioned in the uniseals and poly thread is "wavin"provided by APS. There website is www.apsvic.com.au

For comercial systems poly may be the way to go rather than PVC but unless pvc gets phased out like is apparently happening in europe then I don't see that poly is going to be suitable for back yard systems.

Poly is meant to be better. There have been people on the forum fromm time to time baging pvc saying that it is nasty towards fish and us but even on the most THHCI websites I couldnt find any documentation on health effects of rigid pvc. Flexible pvc is a whole other ball game and there is good evidence that it shouldn't be used in food situations.

Having said that the EU is moving away from PVC as are California, New York, I believe the tri states and a few others. It would be interesting to know what japan is doing.

I like poly, most of my system runs through it. You don't have to worry about something dropping on it and breaking like PVC after it ages.

Poly pipe is used a lot these days in plumbing so that means in alot of new developments you will have poly pipe running into the house.

It is also widely used for irrigation.

It has kinda been annoying for me being a excavtor operator poly pipe is very easy to pop with a large machine the plus usually as long as you don't pull it out of its join its a 5 minute job to fix

The other good thing about ppoly pipe it conducts heat very well :)

which mine about it being a good heat conduit?

It really isn't a bad one, it takes about 15-20 meters of 25 mm poly pipe to create warm water plus if its got constantly moving water throught the pipe the potential build up of heat through a black poly pipe is much much less

Just a few degrees increase in temp reduces PE pressure rating by massive amount.
If your playing with presurized water be very careful with this.
