Has any one seen or used something like tis before?

I'm thinking it might work with my back-up system along with an air pump?

It only draws 24w which will work with my 300w inverter along with the air pump I'm looking at.

It's cheep enough to give it a go.

Thoughts?

No bennefet for aqua they just move the water Good for aquariams where you want your plants and corol moving

I'm thinking if it churns up the water it will help with air-rating the water as part of a back up system?
If I had them near the surface.

I only have a 1000l tank and with 2 of these running along with an air pump might be enough?

Running 2 of them you would be better off running a 40 watt electromagnetic air pump

Just did a quick google search for air pump and come up with an aquarium place with a heap - they range from 2 - 15 watts and from $9.50 to $65.00.

The vibration pumps are designed for coral aquariums so your coral moves (as Food&Fish has already said).

i reckon moving the water around on the susrface they would help with airation, but you would have to figure out how much water they move, and whether a punp pump / airpump wouyld move the same amount of water for less???

could be good for setting up a small whirlpool for solids / fish to play in :)

Do you have the link to that page?

Found a good large pump on ebay for $59.00, would be big enough for my system.

and only uses 10.5watts

Will add to my thread shortly what I have bought for my back-up system.

IMO thats a shit pump. i went through 2 in as many weeks, burnt out and broke the diaphrams inside.

I would only buy one of these if I wanted skinny fish hehehehe the extra exercise is all that you will get out of it and like said before maybe creating a swirl to get solids in the middle...

Its no good going over board it costs money... if you only have 1000 ltrs then you wont have many fish is this right?? and if this is the case then you should be right with oxygen... If you are overstocking and DO need the extra oxygen then i have found you cant go wrong with an AquaOne air pump.... just duck down to your local aquarium now $15-50 should stop you loosing those precious fish as it will cost $20-40 for you to restock if they die....then you still have to go buy a pump any way ...SO GO GET ONE NOW before murphy comes around... learn from our mistakes and DON'T put backup's in place after fish die.... hehe enjoy hope this helps

I already have a small version the aquaone pump running, and now it's attached to the Thumper power pack via an inverter.

With the 25 silvers I have getting bigger I didn't want to risk loosing them.

Might get a bigger air pump and use the small one for a lift pump similar to the one FreoBoy has just made.

what you can do is leave the air off the system and see if the silvers come up for air... you wont need much air for 25 big silvers (thats 40 litres each)... just to see how long your system will cope with them using the air that is stored in the water...It wont hurt them to come up for air for a little while...I have 2 pumps the same (for parts later) as if one goes Kaput then the other is there... go buy another of what you have that way you will have a backups backup all good then...that will be double the air you get already and if one pump dies then it gives you time to get anotherto replace

That's a good idea, since the one I have didn't cost me anything. Found it in the middle of the road on a round about. :thumbright:
