G'day Just designing a system at the moment that will use half blue barrel growbeds with loop siphon drains. I'm wondering what methods people use to prevent media entering the siphon inlet? Thanks, |

Ag pipe, PVC pipe with holes drilled in it, ice cream container with holes drilled in it. Just about anything that will provide a barrier |

I just used 100mm PVC pipe, cut in half.. due to the curvature of the barrels, I didn't even drill any holes.... Not perfect perhaps.... but it's been working for years...

whatever you use, you want it big enough to get your hand down into it so you can remove any roots that migrate into the siphon.. jT |

Hmm, Just one other question, When purchasing flexible black poly pipe, is there a specific type that is "safer" than others for use in AP in regards to leaching? Have seen a few posts regarding leaching from polypipe.... Is that just being toooooo paranoid? |

I use the "soft" pvc tubing... mainly because it's just easier to use... Most of the discussion seems to suggest that it's not a problem... |
