Hi guys,

I'm a fairly handy guy when it comes to making things but when I do make something it is well over engineered!!!!

So, I would like your advice on the following dimensions of growbeds and the steel work and wood thickness needed.

I want to make several 1.5m x 2m growbeds, only 20cm deep (constant flooded watercress) and the beds will have legs 80cm.

So what thickness of wood for the bed - 12mm plywood with plastic liner?

And the steel work? Now this is where I now build something that could raise the Titanic only to hold a lettuce!!!!

I have seen BYAP beds and frames but what is the metal work (hope you dont mind vivulging your secrets BYAP!).

Thanks .... and please try not to say 'gauge' as here in Chile we work in meters and cm's and I have no idea what the Spanish is for 'gauge'.

I look forward to hearing from you all.

The frames are just standard "angle iron"... hot dip galvanised...

The ones I built are holding beds similar to the BYAP ones. 3/4 gravel 1/4 hydroton.
50mmx50mmx6mm for upper steel work.
90mmx90mm tube legs (they were scrap offcuts I got for a couple dollars each)
