hi and thks to all that help .
im about to set up a 2000lt retangle tank under my deck

i need to pump 3mt up to my grow pipes 2 x 100m x 6mt
mabe later on will need to pump TO 10 mt

DO YOU THINK THIS IS OVER KILL?
WHAT PROBLEMS COULD YOU SEE ARISING FROM USEING THIS SORT OF PUMP ?
WOULD THERE BE TO MUCH PRESURE ?

Well the more expensive one uses less electricity so I would go for that one, can't find any performance details on it (can't view the e-bay pictures on my work computer) but I found this on the cheaper one

If you squint really hard to can make out that at 10m head it will move 1500L/Hr (25L/min). It sounds like you are planning on NFT, not sure what sort of flow rate you would need for that as I have NFI about NFT :dontknow:

I would say that at the future planned 10m head you would need a pump like these if you want to come close to turning over your FT volume per hour.

Both are cheap, power thirsty and made in china with a 12 month warranty so I guess the will last around 13 months

you'll notice that the 4000l/hr one consumes less power than the 2000l/hr one!

Is it just me or does the flow/head chart not the same as what the listing states?

You need to tell us what you think after a while using it fishlips.. :) There are so many pumps nowadays it's very hard to keep track, never heard of that brand... :dontknow:

Well if we aim at turning over one entire tank volume per hour (ie. 2000L/hr) and a 15mins per hour timer, you need a pump that would move about 8000L/hr (8000L/hr x 0.25 hr=2000L/hr) at 3mtr head.

The last pump you selected will only move 3000L/hr at 3metres head. So you will find you may have insufficient flowrate if you use a timer flood and drain.

If you can afford it go for the biggest one you can It doesnt matter if it has too much pressure just put a Tpiece and tap after the pump and send it back to either #1 the fish tank for more aeration and swirling of solids or #2 to a spare tank that can swirl solids out then over flow back into the fish tank that way you can regulate the pressure and if You want to expand your system your pump can handle it plus the bigger ones use less energy to water pumped ratio then smaller ones....
