Does anyone have a diag or thread to a pipe config or way to stop water emptying out of pipe when pump stops. The water does not syphon back to sump as I have venturi airator in line. But the pipe empties back to sump and so pump filling pipe on every go. Kind regards , Skipd. |

The non-return valve above the sump. It was fairly cheap and easy to plumb into the 25mm...but just change connectors and it will suit anything. You should be able to find one at the "B"

With the non-return valve installed, does the water inside the pipe after the valve still drain out after the pump stops? Allowing the pump to drain out the water in the pipe actually backwashes the pump hence any debris stuck on the strainers actually gets pushed away instead of blocking the strainer up. |

Can make a lot of noise when you start the pump back up again though Ivan. I am assuming that Skipd has the system somewhere that the noise is annoying people. |

HI Ivan The line is from my Sump to FT so there shouldnt be to much crap in the Sump, plus Sump pump has no grate and can pump 30mm particles. As I now have beefy 40mm pipe the line holds a fair bit of water. Without the non return valve a lot of water drains back to Sump after Sump pump switches off. Water Param today Nitrate 3 Nitrite 0 Ammonia 0 Ph 7.6 Just feeding one table spoon of crappy koi feed per day, plus a pinch of goldfish crumbs for the little guys. |

Hi skipd, Well 40mm non-return valve could be pretty expensive. Go to the BYAP shop and get yourself some good pellets. |

Look for the Holman brand PVC non return Valve they are cheaper and can also serve the dual purpose of a barrel union. Philmac and Hansen ones can be quite expensive. Pm me if you have trouble finding them. " b" should have em |

be careful with some non return valves, some have quit strong springs in them that impede flow.. Simple flapper valve style offers very little resistance.. |

Well got me a spring check valve. B had run out of the size. Total Eden ran out and only had $40 Philmac ones. So got this one from my local hardware store, $36. A bit expensive but it is very nice. It has actually cut the noise down as water does not gurgle back through system and past Venturi. Regards, Skipd.
