Looking at building a sump in my small shed, on a concrete floor next to my FT's. Im running CHOP & I plan to run 1700 litres of FT (2 tanks) gravity fed into many 1/2 Blue barrels (30 in the end). Ive worked out, using scoria, each 1/2 barrel takes approx 32 litres of water so Im looking at something in the vicinity of 1500 litre ST (round up to 35 litres x 30 barrels = 1050 litres)

I have the space on the floor and thinking of building it out of 50 or 75mm thick wood (permapine?) Using 3 m x 1 m at 0.5 metre high (would be 0.65 actually) should do the 1500 litres nicely. I gather I can just make a box, maybe line the sides with old carpet (for protection?) and put a little sand in the bottom so the liner is on a softer base than cement? What thickness should I be looking at for the liner etc and any tips for a n00b ST builder

i just made one from 2x4s, plyboard, bubble wrap and 6mil plastic sheeting...works perfect...so far...is 200gal, but will scale nicely if you used 2x6 as tha walls and a full 3/4" plyboard...that is going to be my next FT/ST project...
