Hey folks I need to make a lid for my new round tank of 2m diameter. I want it hinged in the middle and maybe domed a bit Would using the blue lined black plastic pipe work as the rim? I will be covering it with high blockout shadecloth |

Should work. Have a couple of loops going over the top to dome it. |

Another idea is to make a steel wire frame dome. Then wrap the black pipe in a coil to cover the top. Then in winter you can pump through the cover to heat up the water a little. |

Good plan but I am hopeless with steel. Will stick to a shadecloth cover and just get fish to suite my climate |

Fish to suite the climate is a good choice. |

... Post a pic of the end result - I too have a round tank, but have started to build the subframe for a hardwood decking lid! BTx |

I simply used some fencing panel pieces to make my fish tank lid and then attached netting and shade cloth over that. It isn't domed but was real easy. |
