Here are the plants that have clogged up my NFT pipes (causing pipes to get blocked and overflow):

Beans
Cucumbers
Pumpkins

Basil will go nuts too but seems easier to trim then the others.

I have my NFT running along the ground and the pipes are not glued (I used T's instead of drilling holed). This came in handy when the pumpkin completely blocked the water flow. Pulled it apart, grabbed the nasty roots, shoved it back together.

Did you have media in your pipes... or just pure NFT??

I've heard pumpkins can become real beasts in Hydro or AP.

I've even had basil cause an overflow when I haven't trimmed the roots on a big plant in a while.

Actually just about anything that grows for long enough could clog the pipes, it's just some things grow bigger/faster than others.

Pure NFT.

Well, no media anyway. There wasn't constant flow, just when the GBs were draining maybe 20-30 minutes/hour.

Wonder how fast the pumpkin would grow if the NFT was full time!

Probably the worst plant would be squash which I refuse to grow at all. The joke around here is you need to keep your car locked in August/September or someone will place a "gift" of squash in your car...
