Hi Jamie. I have no idea of the volume of the black drums, but my understanding of them is they are not food safe |

These have been used for the past 2-3 years catching rainwater off a shed roof they were full when I got them the water had been sitting in them for 6 months. I recon if they had nasties in them it would be neutralized |

Yes black ones are food safe, we have heaps of blue barrels here and mostly used for agricultural chemicals, they wash clean eventually and have been used successfully to transport fish, Blue are 200lt and they look the same, the black ones maybe slightly less in lts due to the inner skin which they have to help insulate the products kept in them, but at least would be 190lt, the taller one is narrower because it holds the same volume, and the fact they have had rainwater in for 3 years would make them more than safe |

I had some blue pickle barrels that look very similar but they were only about 160L. You can get a rough idea of volume if you know the dimensions. |

Well i have 2 of them setup for my tanks atm so somwhere between 350-400l plus 2/3rds of one as a sump so i reckon thats enough to start with, also setting up one as a GB going to get 2 more then i am going to make a stand at work that puts each one 100mm higher than the other then mount some 50mm SLO Overflows to teir the water between them then sheet it off and insulate the whole thing with a Lift up insulated lid. I might get some sacrificial Goldies in the next Month or so and see how they go but im sure they will be safe as Nocky said but the goldies will make sure theres no nasties |
