I paid $45 for a cubic meter of 10mm drainage gravel. That is fairly standard around Brisbane. |

we paid $15 per bobcat scoop of 10mm screened gravel. 3 scoops to a cubic metre = $45 - just like VB and 3 scoops to a 1 tonne ute ^ |

I paid $60-$65 a trailer load I think. Are you north or south of the river BF, and which soil supplier did you try? |

bf, general price is $45/cubic metre for 10mm drain gravel (Qld) - a 6 by 4 trailer holds approx 0.9cubic metre ($40) I bought it in 1/4 metre lots for under $12 |

$30/tonne at my local sand and gravel guy -I took a guesstimated 100 kilos and he settled for $3.00 - so $45/cu mtr is about right, especially if they've got to fire up the F/E loader to load you. |

Similar to EB $61 a trailer at Boomerang soil suppliers... cracked and normal pea gravel. It is only expensive if you buy it by the bag full. |

The weight of gravel was also another item discussed at the Brissie meet - gravel is 2*SG (ie 1 cubic metre of gravel weighs 2 tonne = very compressed springs) |

I guess screened? Does that mean it's been through a screen and had smaller particles removed? I would go for round rather than cracked, I've tried both and cracked gravel is a bit harsher on your hands, round pea gravel is nice n smooth.. |

Screened means it has been procesed through a screener. Ie they dump a bucket load of junk into the big machiene "the screener" and then it sorts it out through a series of screens or sieves. This way they can seperate gravels into graduated +-sizes that you get in the store or can mix the gravels in a percentage to get an optimum aggregate mix for a type of concrete they want to make. More info than you probably wanted but thats what you get from 2 years of soils and concrete testing courses. |
