Post subject:  Joining Blue plastic drums

I have some of the 200l blue plastic drums and I was thinking about laying them end to end underneath a long section of growbed. The plan is to join them together so that it becomes a large water storage container, with say 4 joined end to end that's 800litres of water storage, not too bad for hardly any cost, but theres one snag I hadn't thought of....

How can I possibly join the drums together??????? :? My plan had been to join the drums together in two places to allow water and air to flow freely bvackwards and forewards as they fill, and get used up.. Now I look at the actual logistics of being about to join two sealed drums together, without access to the inside of either of them, for tightening nuts, applying silicon etc.....?

I had also thought about lining up a row of the plastic drums, standing up side by side down my fence for water storage. Ultimately I would have liked these to be fairly similar, joined top and bottom to the drum beside it.. Now they do have the bungs in the top, so if they're standing up, and I had very small hands and arms, I could reach inside each of them to tighten fittings, but I can't even get my hand into them...

Anyone have any thoughts or ideas......?????? :? :? :?

Just a suggestion, it might work.

Keep them barrels on their sides, then you join them - bung to bung?

Use one large retic tee fitting on each bung, then use hose and then push fit to the tees with jubilee clips to secure them. Keep the bungs fairly low to the ground and drill a small hole at the top of each barrel to let the air out of each compartment.

Hard to explain .. So I have drawn a sketch and e-mailed it to you.
