| Post subject: | Variable Flow Pumps |
Just a tip I thought may be useful for those wanting to use a sump pump in a system like a constant head system, and don't want to use a float controlled pump. Recently a friend of mine got a bore installed, and said he was getting a variable flow bore as the water supply would initially be low (as the bore was comsissioned) and later improve. When the pump was installed, all this meant was there was a ball valve installed on the outlet (near the surface so it could be adjusted). The effect of this was to artificially adjust the head on the pump, thus controlling the output of the pump, so that it could be adjusted to be less than what was flowing into the bore, thus not running the pump dry. Therefore the output of the pump can be set to match the infow to the pump. Just a tip I thought others may find of interest... |
