Hi, I have a pretty large tank, sunk into the ground. I would like to cover half of it so that I can use the space above it more effectively. I have wooden ply sheets that I intend to varnish and used to cover a section of the tank. Any idea if polyurethane varnish will be a problem for the fish? I don't think it'll flake, and it is waterproof. If wood varnish isn't ok, what about PVA paint? Thanks Rob |

PondTite or any other pond sealing product would be what I would use. |

You could also glue a layer of 0,5mm PVC to the plywood. I wouldn't know about varnishes, but many members have used fish safe bitumen. |

IMO........ Polyurethane (and other) wood varnishes are not suitable if exposed to sunlight, the sunlight gets thru to the wood and cracks it after some time. In shade it may be alright. PVA is a good option. |
