| Post subject: | Tank Colour |
I will soon order my 5000 litre poly fish tank and have the ability to specify the colour that I would like it to be made in. What is the most appropriate colour. Black is good to attract heat, but maybe not so good in the middle of winter. Another negative about black is it can be very difficult to spot the fish against this background. Would the sky blue colour that pools are often made out of be a suitable colour. Any suggestions. |

BR has a green one to hide the algae bloom black wouldn't be too signicant on 5,000 litres I should think, a lighter colour is best to spot the fish - my thoughts |

Its a pity it has to be one colour, otherwise you could have a white base, and black sides if you wanted. (or something a little more colourful and exotic) I would go a neutral colour, something you can see the fish on, but not too light to reflect all the light back making it hard to see.... |

hahahahha.... You painting your tank Stu? I think you'll find that so far as colour goes, for the internals of the tank and seeing fish, once you get heavy stocking, you end up with a dark green algae covering the inside of the tank. My tank was originally almost white on the inside, but below water line ATM it's just a dark greeny black/brown colour... |

don't tempt me, I'm in a craqzy mood. Sotrry VB hijacked your thread. Bank to clour of tanks. Ithink light means more algae, black means can't see the fishieroonies, and so I chose misty green, a lovely colour that matches my eyes and the colour of my gutters. Apologies for my silliness. Am loggiong off now to prevent myself from making any more stupid posts. |

Mitght go the mist green - will match my colourbond shed and the water tank I will have not far from my aqua setup. Anyone have any reason why this would not be a sound choice? |
