I just made this tool for us after I couldn't find one on the web.

It's an excel. Just enter the diameter and length of the pipe it does the rest.

Optional is a field called roughness. This is to measure the effect bio-film will have on your pipes volumes however thick it is.

Enjoy.

Here's a couple more.

The ebb and flow calculator wont give you the medium required as I said. Talking through a hole :D

It will tell you how much actual water you have in there.

3 calculators

Thanks EB.

Can someone please teach me how to lock cells in excel. I don't want to lock the whole worksheet as then you guys couldn't use them. Just the sums so you can't break your calculators.

And the grey cell border lines ever present in view, just not print view. Is this a programme default thing? Or something I can make go away.

Also, when version 1.03 and 1.04 of the calculator arrives...

Can a mod please remove 1.01 etc so there's not too much clutter. I've not used excel for years so I'm drafting... ;)

Click on "Format" "Cells" "Protection"

Cells are normally locked so unlock those you want stuff changed in or highlight the ones you want unlocked

Then go to "Tools" "Protection" "Protection Sheet" and select what you want
e.g. tick "Select unlocked cells" this means that cursor will only go to unlocked cells only - no need for password

then click OK

For the border line removal - change your "cell fill colour" to white, and then selcet the cells you want the lines removed and change them to white, if this is unclear let me know

Cell fill colour is the background colour to each cell, the one where you can have yellow/green/red or whatever as a highlight for cells

in fact you could make the cells to be filled in as one colour and the locked cells another - kinda beautify it all

Now if I had preplanned this maybe I wouldn't need so many posts, must ask Monya how he does it so well slightly inebriated

Thanks LKB.

Version 1.03 is ready.

You get

Pipe and round tank/bed volume calculator.
Square and rectangular tank/bed volume calculator.
Medium displacement volume calculator.
Total system volume calculator.

Once you understand the first calculators you can easily move on to working out your entire system.

Here They Are

well done AA,
I'm amazed at your ability to decipher what I actually wrote, the calculators have turned out really well

This will be an asset to all forumers - just had a quick play and realised how many times I was tossing up the calculator to do most of these things.

Thanks guys. I've got an even better one now. But I want the flow rate parameters of continuous flow beds. Then it automatically gives you all your flow requirements for each type of growbed (DWC, E&F, Continuous, and Floating Raft Culture).

Then you have

Flow requirements
Fluctuating volumes

what about adding centigrade to fahrenheit and back
F = C * 9 / 5 + 32
C = (F - 32) * 5 / 9

Yeh - I know then someone will want metric/imperial conversion and the list goes on, I've just added to my copy of your calculator cause MF mentioned 80F and I knew it was warm to hot
