I have been offered a couple of solar hot water panels and wondered if anyone has used them to heat their aquaponics systems? I'm thinking small pump to send water to the panels controlled by a thermostat and gravity feed back into the sump. Has anyone tried anything similar?

If the pipes in the panels are Copper, you'll probably kill your fish. Stainless steel pipes should be ok though.

Yeah they're copper :(

How much copper will kill fish?

A very small amount! You could separate the hot water from your AP water with a heat exchanger though.

Or you could make your own simply by putting a pvc hose on your roof.
I once seen a guy put 200' of hose on his roof which provided enough hot water for the house.
Of course he had a couple storage tanks. (old water heater tanks)
