| Post subject: | Best Greenhouse Solution? |
Hi Guys, We'll I've all but finished my AP setup, but now as it's coming into winter, I would like to whack a greenhouse over it! I'm looking for something approx 8mx4m, straight walls preferable, the dome type wouldn't work in the space I have. Does anyone know of any where that sells kits? I've found a few, but they're all just a bit too fancy and expensive. I don't want eye candy or *sigh* factor Cheers. |

They were about $3k, and they weren't big enough. My whole AP system has only cost me about $1k... so I'm essentially looking for something that resembles a... well... a tent |

Yeah that's more the price range I'm going for! I'm not bad at whacking things together, the reason I'm looking for a kit is laziness pure and simple |

Each frame took 30 min to construct once the gig was made so they are all the same. My frames are 1.5M apart so for a 8M GH you should need 6 ish frames. 3 hours work |

Did you check the download part on top of the pages, under the banner, there is a complete doc for PVC greenhouses and they seem faily cheap or adaptable. i've seen your new mates, nice little fishies gonna give you lots of veggies. |

Since your building it your self it is going to depend on your materials. Your materials are going to depend on whether you scrounge, buy new or a combination of both. Greenhouse plastic film is the cheapest covering for a GH if your buying new but it only last a few years (the quality stuff is gauranteed for 5). If your scrounging then you would need to match your design to your scrounged material. A small GH I've been thinking about is made from cool room panels on the S, E , W and lower north side with two or three layers of GH film for the roof. Cross section looking E looks like this (but the roof would be flatter): /| / | / | | | edit: my asciis art didn't work looks right in the post editor but not in the post. |

You can buy a kit or design your own for much less. I know a guy who uses rebar to build greenhouses. I like to use 1 3/8" top fence rail that I can get from the hardware store or fence supply. EMT conduit works fine for bracing and smaller arches. |

Here is a partial frame of the greenhouse I'm building. Would something like this work for you? It is 6.5M X 8M and the total cost including doors, windows and fan will be about $800.

Sorry I should have posted a photo of the bender. I bought it off Ebay. I think it was around $50. I buy chain link top link at the local building supply house for $9. they are 3.5M and it takes three to make one hoop. I use self tapping screws to fasten them together. They are anchored by drive a slightly larger pipe about 1M into the ground, sliding the hoops inside about .5M and fastening them with self tapping screws. Here is a photo of the bender setup.

That's nice as I got a company to send out some price lists on their green houses... no wonder they don't publish them online... I thought there would be a nice cheap kit out there somewhere, but alas! |
