F&F got one of ebay cheaper. Does anyone actually use them/are they useful?

Don't know about salinity but I use one for disolved sugers when brewing, same principle different scales, so much easier and less waste.

I would say that if your doing a lot of testing then it's worth the $49

But is it useful? I can always use plant health as an indicator.... but have you ever needed to know exactly what it is?

Yea i use mine occasionally if i see something wrong i check to see how much salt [because salt gradually depletes in the system] and then add to bring it to 3 or4 ppm

Only if i see flashing etc or adding new fish [at the moment its on 2]

So I guess this salinity refractometer would allow you to tell what you should be dosing it up to in times of problems.
