Everyone loves a good versus match. Just after members thoughts on these two filter methods and whether there may be a superior? Much like a swirl vs RFF. Or maybe they both have their place in certain circumstances. They have their differences but the idiology is similar. Does anyone know of studies done on the the two regarding efficiency? Personal experiences much welcomed. Id imagine it may be hard to measure in short time. Whats your guys thoughts using them or experience with them. Scotty? Dasboot? Stuart? Anyone etc.. |

As an etc. are you bored atm Charlie? Static up flow is more of a mechanical filter (with some Bio). MBBR is more of a bio with some mechanical. |

Apples to Oranges - they're both good at what they do but functionally there is only a bit of overlap. Even though the Static Upflow Filter is considered a solids filter I'm sure it does do some biofiltration. The MBBR is all about biofiltration and really not for solids filtering but it does break down some solids. You really wouldn't want to switch or substitute one for the other. |
