Post subject:  Sourcing pipe fittings in the UK

I'm in the UK and building a new duckponics system, and had decided to use solvent weld waste pipes and fittings since these seem to be the most easily available type - I can pick them up from pretty much any hardware shop - Screwfix, B&Q, etc. whereas I've never seen pressure pipe/fittings outside of an aquatics supplier.

However, I'm having problems sourcing 32mm solvent weld waste bulkhead fittings - tank connectors (which only accept a pipe on one side) seem to be around £1.50 each, but bulkhead fittings come in at £15 and the only difference is that they can accept a pipe on both sides of the connector! The availability of ball valves also seems to be a problem.

Am I making things hard for myself by choosing to use 32mm waste instead of 32mm pressure pipe, and if so where can I buy pressure pipe fittings since they don't seem to be as readily available as waste pipe fittings?

Or can anyone suggest where in the UK to buy 32mm solvent weld waste bulkhead fittings and valves that don't cost the earth?

Thanks.

Hi
As often life is a compromise. I stick to 40mm solvent weld bulkhead fittings (dual pipe) circa £4 on E bay. You can then use compression fittings to access other 40mm push fit pipe. Up to 50mm and down again to 32mm if required.
I have no experience with duck ponics but I like my pipe work to be flexible.
Screwfit and E bay work for me.
