Code: Only having water circulate between the fish tanks and planting beds will usually end in a toxic environment that will not support life for the fish or plants. Gah! so not true, yet another site which is happy to lie its way to a sale. |

Sounds like that page is assuming you're going to be doing DWC or NFT only, no media beds - they specifically say "By combining conventional aquaculture, which is raising fish or aquatic animals in tanks, with hydroponics, which is the growing plants in water without soil". So yes, if you have no media beds doing the biological filtration for you, you will end up with everything dying... technically true, but either mistaken or deliberately misleading. |

well one month on with this filter and everything is running and growing spendidly. Fish are happy and growing , plants are getting blossoms and growing, seedlings are popping up and sprouting in less then half the time the package says it should. I think it is a success so far. |

Its just a canister/bead filter. Do you have an AP system or an aquarium? Not sure the purpose of one of these in an AP system. |

.. The modern filters for pools, use Zeolite as the filter material. The subject canister seems.to be a typical sand type filter that could use Zeolite.. I can guarantee.that a filter like that WITH. Zeolite would do a fantastic job on two fronts.. First - the grit would provide great solids filtration, and then the Zeolite would absorb the Ammonia and the high surface area, would provide enhanced biofiltration for nitrites etc.. So, my opinion is that with Zeolite, that filter could do a great job... .. |

It has a plastic medium inside doing the filtering. |
