I'm very excited to get going on my first system and am looking for IBCs around me. I found some on craigslist for $80 but I'm not sure if the stuff that was in it before would be bad for the plants and fish. I have a feeling it wouldn't be what I want but would like to make sure. I would appreciate it if anyone could take a peek and let me know what you think.

Here is the craigslist link:

and here is the MSDS listing for the stuff that was in it before:

Thanks a ton,

Jeff

Tough to say. It doesn't look too bad but I can't be sure. I did a search around Norfolk (400 mile radius) using search tempest and here's a link to the results in case you want to look around some. You can change it around with your actual zip and narrow the radius to get better results.

Thanks a ton! I've never used searchtempest before, very cool site! I certainly feel more comfortable with an unused one. I want to make sure that this thing has the best chance of going with the smallest amount of issues. I know if there are crazy problems, it won't continue going. My family would get quite discouraged.

Unused will likely be way too expensive. There are a lot of these that get used for things like honey, molasses, things like that that are water soluble and easy to clean completely, items that it's easier to figure if the IBCs are usable. I saw a few in the search that would have been about $20 more than what you found so at least close in price.
