Hey guys just wondering if the sponge filter inside the pump is required? Can I remove it to prevent blockage and improve flow rate? Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk |

I'd remove the filter - If the pump is in the fish tank you want it to remove waste solids and send them to the grow bed. If the pump is in the sump there shouldn't be much in the way of solids going through it because the grow beds filtered out anything but the suspended solids. It's best to get a solids handling pump because it doesn't take much to stop the impeller on some pumps. Depending on how much you expect problems with solids, you can put the entire pump inside a sock type filter which will last longer than the sponge inside the pump. |

. Plus one... remove, provided there is still a.mechanical filter ... Leave it there and you run the risk of clogging up when you are not expecting it and this could cause a disaster .. Leave it there and the solids you want in the GBs will be removed.. .. |
