I've looked and can't find it. I would love to try it, and have read many trails regarding it's effectiveness. Anybody found any? I would be more then willing to pay shipping/handling if someone from Oz can send be some. Thanks! |

I'll have a look around but I still think Liquid smoke would probably work  . As I recall Andreas is using Wood Vinegar at a large dilution and liquid smoke is used in food prep so between diluting it and it being considered food safe  . It's created, starting at the same temp as wood vinegar but includes products going up to a higher temp so it's not exactly the same.

I saw a couple of the liquid smoke references too Scotty. It didn't look like the same product. Close, but you know what that can get you.

Well, there's liquid smoke and then there's liquid smoke, if you catch my drift. The real stuff is probably not that different. Then there's the stuff they formulate with additives that probably isn't even close. They are not all the same but will it matter to the bugs? |

Guys here's something I posted for the "Boss" It appears to be listed as a toxic substance in the US so it might be harder to find but it's well worth the effort if you can locate it, it works instantly as a bug killer and I've notice any of the plants I've used it on appear to be doing a lot better than the same batch of plants not sprayed. Research at Mae Jo University also shows that wood vinegar with excessive amounts of tar can be harmful to plants. |

Thanks Joe. I've seen/read all those links...and more. Tried looking for it as Pyroligneous acid also. No luck...except the reference about Liquid smoke. |

I thought this was an interesting video about liquid smoke that might put someones mind to rest if they use it and are concerned about it being a carcinogen (or might not )http://nutritionfacts.org/video/is-liquid-smoke-flavoring-carcinogenic/ We can compare notes CoachChris - Which brand are you using (I have Wright's)? |

Not so far, I need to find the dilution rate that Andreas posted and get some made. I'll re-post his dilution up here when I find it and let you know how it goes when I give it a try. I read 1/200 - 1/1000 range? Pretty big range. I will start at 250/1 and then increase if not effective. appx 1 TBS /gallon |

OK, Andreas dilution is apparently 1 part wood smoke to 200 parts water in a hand sprayer for spray application. I think using a bit lower dilution is probably a better starting point (like the 1 to 250 that you mentioned). I'll probably make up a quart as a test on whatever- I think there may still be a few spider mites and aphids around. |

Mine will be white fly. Still fighting them. If it will kill white-fly, it will control anything.

Guys I diluted my Wood Vinegar at the same rate as Dasboot 1:200 (1 part to 200) and that was also recommended on the container label, it was quite strong at that rate and did kill all the bugs instantly. Starting off at 1:250 would be a good idea first up, I'm not sure on your liquid smoke but I don't think you'll need to mixed too much up, with the Wood Vinegar you need very little it covers very well and I threw more out than I used. I was a bit worried about using it at that strength first up but what I did notice was that all the plants that were sprayed with it have all picked up and now look a lot better than they did before they were sprayed. I only sprayed the bug infested plants but now I will try Dasboot's idea of diluting it further and mixing it with other goodies and using it as an all-round foliar spray. They make a lot of claims on their website, and a fair few of them read like a snake oil salesman's speech, including snake bite and gout, there are a few there I find a bit hard to believe but it's OK for what I will be doing with it. http://www.woodvinegar.com.au/claimed-uses/ Coach try contacting the company direct and see if they would ship to the US.
