Hi all

this is 100liters barrel and there is moving water from the bottom by air power 24hour 7days

my question is will the nitrobacter and nitrosomonas live in this barrel and will another unwanted bacteria will grow there.

what is the rules to make suitable place for nitrifying bacteria ..must the air bubbles touch all the surface

will the good bacteria need the same mg of oxgen...the important q is will the good bacteria die if the drowning in water

thank you

The air needs to bubble thru the water and dissolve,... then it becomes available to the bacteria, all the bacteria, provided there are no stagnant areas..
My question is... how is it different to any other , and thus why would the relevant bacteria not act the same...

That tiny video tells little... but I have NOAIR in the actual filter and air in the tank that feeds it..

My aerated water passes thru bird mesh, where that video seems to use shade cloth.. :-)

Same-same-but-difderent..

HI buidoi
you are right so i changed that to plastic mesh but my question is will the bacteria live in that barrel on the plastic mesh just with dissolved oxegyn or the bateria need alot of bubbles touch that mesh directly.

thank you

..
No, you don't need bubbles but you do need the O2 and "they will come".. provided there is nutrients, and warmth..

Air does create movement, and movement can be good... ensuring there are no anaerobic areas that will eat your nutrients and release the nitrogen..

I filter my flow so actual solids do not clog the filter.. AIR bubbles could help move solids ..

Bottom line .... BUBBLES CANT HURT, they can help, but are not necessary..(provided there is enuf air from elsewhere..

My filter tube is horizontal.. bubbles would not work for me..

I have bubbles in the Sump Tank and in the FishTank..
I turn the air off to see the fish and sometimes forget to turn back on.. the fish remain happy..
Meaning that there MUST be.sufficient O2 for the bacteria in the filter, as they are b4 the fish..

So, the important things are.. lots of air B4 the filter and no channeling in the filter...

Just a point.. "from the bottom"

I would want a void at the bottom, or a distributor, to spread the water injection..

A wise friend advised me.. "you can not have too much. air.. " :headbang: but too little and you DIE..

thats is the point make me mad

thank you
