Provided there is nothing else in the containers, I would think just rinsing out the containers. Lactic acid (Produced by the Lactic acid bacteria found in yogurt...) and Citric acid (part of the Citric Acid cycle) are commonly produced in nature. KOH gets used to raise the pH in Aquaponic systems and to provide Potassium. This Product is used as an antimicrobial, it's probably water soluble, should come off easily, test it and see. It's used on food products as a natural preservative that doesn't impart a taste of it's own. http://www.birkocorp.com/beef/beefxide/ Hope this helps |

Do you think these would also be suitable for drinking water storage after rinsing or would I need to clean them with soap or vinegar or something. |

I'd clean them well either way. Considering that they are used and may have contained other things without your knowledge, it's a good idea. I probably wouldn't use them for drinking water for this reason but I doubt it's an issue if they only contained this product. If you read the link information on how the product is used, it looks like many of us are probably already ingesting this without knowing it's on our meat. |
