I tried to search the forum about my siphon problem, but there is way to much information. And nothing appears to come close to my problem. So I will open a new topic for my siphon problem. The problem: My siphon did work fine untill I moved my growbed. So, whats happening? My growbed fills with water and the siphon triggers with full speed. Then when it reaches the breakpoint (I also use an extra air-tube) you hear a gorgeling sound and you will think it breaks my siphon. But it still keeps running, but not with the same amount of water I add to my growbed. Normally when you have siphon problems it keeps running with the same amount of water you add to the growbed. Say I add 100 (fictional number) of water to my growbed, the siphon after the gorgeling keeps running with 10 of water. After filling the growbed with 2 or 3 inch of water the siphon starts up again with full speed until the gorgeling sound, and it returns with the running of 10. The siphon will do that in an endless loop. The strang thing is that I didn't changed a thing and I assume the vacuum breaks with the gorgeling, but not at all. I tried to restrict the water in my growbed from 100 till about 30, but still the same things happen. I also tried to enlarge the water added to my growbed to 200, but same thing. My growbed isn't clodded with any debris so the water is equally leveled throughout my growbed. Someone have any idea it could be? And why it worked fine until now... |

After some more reading and searching I believe the problem is that I don't get enough air to break the siphon completely. That could be possible because my outer pipe (which holds the gravel away) isn't in the exact same position as it was before. I will try to correct that this evening. Keep you informed! |

I've had similar symptoms when the outlet end of my drainpipe shifted up a little bit. Had to tie it down. HTH |

Well Gene, You are a live saver !! Indeed my drainpipe shifted up just a little bit. And really a little bit. Corrected it, and the siphon is working like a charm. Many thanks! |
