I am starting a small indoor system using 4 55 gallon halves for grow beds. Does anyone have any tips or specs on grow lights. Brands to stay away from, worthwhile models, any luck one way or the other?

Thanks a ton,

Chad

I use the good'ol cobbled together cheap T8 shop light array with cool white bulbs placed 1-3 inches from the top of the plants in my winter starting and overwintering endeavors. The fixtures are $9 apiece and bulbs are $2 for two and is doesn't make a dent in the electric bill. Works great!

The el-cheapo setup.

Under the lights with some sweet heat pepper starts in wicking beds.

I use T5s in my little nursery. But make sure you get the "COOL" bulbs. Also, if you are just doing leafy greens (Basil, Lettuce, etc.) you will do just fine with fluorescent grow lights. But I would recommend High Pressure Sodium Grow Lights (HPS) if you are going for fruit/tomatoes.
