for Queenslanders (might be in other states): BCF have a sale on Jarvis Walker "fish friendly landing nets" - was $29.95, now $19.95 (for next 2 weeks) I was going to buy one a few weeks back, I am going to buy one tomorrow |

the jarvis walker net is a copy of the original "environet"....ive got one and they're heaps cheaper than the original, been using em for about a year for boat n jetty fishing and they're great

Only if they are the fish friendly nets I'm thinking of, they are hopeless for AP... I have one and don't use it at all... The problem is that they are no good for catching fish, because they have solid sides and a very fine mesh in the bottom the water doesn't flow through it very well. When your trying to scoop through the water quickly to catch a fish, it's almost like trying to use a bucket. It's an enormous amount of work to move the net through the water, so you can only move it slowly, and the fish just scoot out of the way.. They are great for when you have a fish on the end of a line, and you want to carefully direct them into the net and lift them out of the water without damaging them.. But to catch scared fish in a tank??? Not good.... I've attached a pic of the net I'm talking about below..

Pretty similar net..... 
A bit more fly screen type stuff in it... But I still say, there's a reason why people don;t use that type of net to catch fish from a tank.. It make the job so much harder in so many ways.. But hey, for $20, give it a go, it would be good to hear other points of view.. |

Looked at there other nets and there is tooooooooo much netting on them, will give them a go - you still want one vb

well your set then old man ....they can be a bit heavy briefly as they hold alot of water coz of the fine mesh...but you can always get ya wife to do the lifting
