Post subject:  Used hydroton from hydroponic grow: risks?

I just bought a bunch of used hydroton from a hydroponic operation closing down. Naturally I'm planning on a good rinse-through before filling the GB, anyone think it needs more than that (like X number of changes of water or whatever)? I'll be fishless cycling when this thing gets wings, so if anything nasty is in it I think I would be able to note that in the testing/cycling process and to additional water changes if needed. My guess would be if anything some plant-available noots and maybe salts that need to be diluted?

I would be weary of what chemicals were used in its previous hydroponic system. From what I have read, some are great for plants but deadly to fish.
