Could a tank like this be topped (cut off the top) for a FT? http://boulder.craigslist.org/hsh/4150045970.html I'm thinking as a newbie setup I could understock this until cycling and experience allow me to grow, and the height would allow GBs over sump. Problems with cutting off the top? With understocking (say, 15 fish in 300-400 gallons)? |

That looks like a great fish tank, it's round shape will make it easy on the fish too. As for the fears of under stocking, we have seen time and time again that fewer is not necessarily bad, and you can always add more once you have cycled. |

I was hoping that'd be the case! The extra height will make things easier for me, and buying once for future growth makes me happy. |
