We had power out here at the shop for a few days recently which wasn't very nice... A main supply line inside the property had to be replaced and it took a lot of mucking around.. The power first went out last Sunday and we had an electrician come in and fix it. Then we were shut Monday, but I had a call from the soil yard just after lunch saying "I think your power's out again."

Power must have been out for a long time, probably going out sometime on Sunday night and because we weren't there in the morning to fix things we lost all the trout.. By the time I got in here most of the back up air pumps were stopped, but luckily we didn't lose any other fish..

Anyway, the overhead power cable needed to be replaced, about an 80m run, so we were out of power for a few days. Initially I ran a small generator that could only run a couple of systems, the till machine and wireless modem. it couldn't run things like the pressure pump, so we had no water here, no toilets and had to swap systems around to let them all run for a while. Time to update so bought this thing for $399..



Well actually the one we got was slightly better, they must have updated since this picture, it had a battery and key start...

This generator ran pretty much everything in the shop except the fridge and the TV. It powered 16 different aquaponic systems including air pumps, the front till computer and printer, 2 computers in the office phone, system, fax, a couple of lights in the office and the pressure pump for water...

15L fuel tank meant that we didn't have to come in to top up the fuel at night, unlike the previous genny. In fact our record was running pretty much everything on one tank of fuel for 18 hours.

$400 well spent... And the "909" evidently is the number of days warranty you get...

And it even has a usb port.. to charge your phones...

I've been looking at this smaller trolly mounted one for my systems, following the storms we had last season I don't want to get caught out when the next lot come through.

I have the 909 750 w which ran my system while our power was out for 6 days no problems with them.

Sorry to hear of your Trout losses.

The genset looks like an absolute bargain. I'll have to tell my mate as he's chasing one for his block.

I didn't realise it was the same brand as yours Bear. I'm thinking about heading down to Moronfield tomorrow to pick one up if you feel like coming along for the drive.

Young CC Bear and I picked up that little gen set a couple of days ago.

I was surprised this afternoon when I fueled it up this afternoon and it started first pull of the cord.

I'll give it a good test this week end running a few power hungry tools for a while.

I bought the same generator about a month ago and it has already survived its baptism of fire during a day long blackout. It ran very well and used much less fuel than I expected it to.
It cost me $394 and I reckoned that was good value. The same model is now selling for $294 (at least at the new Joondalup Masters store)!
