I have a new 12V Hailea ACO-003 air pump and boy is it noisy!

Does anyone have a good tried and tested solution for making things a little quieter? I was thinking about sitting it on some sort of foam and enclosing it with a poly box (with some air holes).

The trick with noise insulation (isolation/cancelation?) is to make the sound travel to many different materials. Usually one soft, one hard and one inbetween.

Try putting it in a box with for example styrofoam, plywood and bricks all around. You can try just building the floor, walls, top and back for the box and let the "open front" with the cabels going out directed away from were you usually are.

People often zip tie the air pump down to reduce the vibration. That also keeps the feet from dancing around causing more noise.

Yep, hang it up by the top strap.

Have a look at page five of my thread. I have the same pump and hang it up using short 1 inch wide rubber straps from your friendly B shop

Yeah, do as ccbear says, I got the same pump and it works fine, make sure the pump is as level as possible. :thumbright:

Thanks all.

I'll give ccbears method a try and see what happens.
