I've seen alot of threads that talk about tanks and growbeds and where to get them but I haven't seen a ton of stuff available to me in the US so I figured I'd report some of my recent findings.

Although I think you can get 300 gallon rubbermaid tanks from Acehardware thru a special order:

The have alot of aquaculture and hydroponics supplies and they're located inear Orlando (about two hours from me)

Diego, take a look around at the various farm supply stores. Most of them stock round and oval galvanized steel tanks, as well as the Rubbermaid ones, and some that are made out of blue poly (probably your best buy in relation to dollar per sq ft.) If you don't have a farm supply store near you, check the local yellow pages for either livestock feed stores or farm supplies.

I mentioned on your post about the big splash pool that you could also try the really cheap plastic pools from WalMart. They aren't very sturdy, but they ought to last long enough to pay for themselves.

i thought about using a cheap plastic pool from walmart for a grow bed, but the one i got for my kids only lasted a week. when i bought it, i had to dig in the stack for one with out holes in it.

I know they aren't very sturdy, but when I was in college we used them in the dorms for "Make your own Sundae" nights. My job was to clean the dining room in one of the girls dorms, and as I lived off campus I wasn't aware of how they did things in the dorms. What they did was have different nights to get the students to use the cafeterias. On the make your own sundae night they would take a couple of the plastic wading pools and put them onto a dining table, then they would put the 3 gallon cardboard tubs of ice cream into it, along with scoops, and toppings. I hated it when I had to clean up after those nights. Those girls had ice cream, syrup and other toppings slopped all over the tables and floors!

Hmmmm,,, I wonder if the guy who produces "The Girls Gone Wild" videos would pay me for an idea based off "Make Your Own Sundae Night"? :oops: :shock: :laughing5:

I have been looking at free hottubs on craigslist. I should get them if they for sure hold water. They're nice and insulated, really big, and cheap. I can't find any close to me though.. Try your local craigslist ads or regular old classifieds you find free at the grocery store.

I have the ability to obtain these bunk feeder liners wholesale at $25 a pop. This would be for the liner only, not the galvanized frame that is built by a secondary manufacturer and costs an arm and a leg.

The bunk liners come in 6, 10, and 12 feet.

I currently use them as grow beds and they work fabulously except you need to support them! The steel frame that is made by another company sucks for supporting gravel and is a waste of money I learned the hard way. Ideally, you would want a box frame to support its length from underneath and along the sides. The cheapest way to do this would be to use 2x12 pressure treated lumber and build a "box" for the liner to set into.

They are shipped in bulk and I was able to get the guy to allow me to do a less than minimum (100) order.

These are the exact ones used by Artistic Mill, Joyce, and myself. Unless you support them from underneath they sag under the weight of gravel and water.

The supplier is here in the USA.... jtif_1.

FYI, the dimesnsions on the grow beds are 2.5 feet wide x 12 inches deep x 6, 10, or 12 feet long.

Wow, the price is right. What would these cost me normally? That may be just what I need.

What would it cost to ship them to me in Texas? Can I buy directly?
