If I were using and ebb and flow system would I need a filter for the aquarium or does the GB medium act as the filter?

GB medium acts as a filter. Bio-filter and mechanical, if designed that way. Do a search in the forum. Its been beaten to death here. Rule of thumb is 1:1 GB to FT volume. I actually have a ratio of 0.8:1 for my system. Some people have gotten upwards of 2:1. Its not exact as it completely depends on stocking density, feeding, growing media, plants, etc.
