| Post subject: | Submersible Pump Help |
Hi All, So I am in the process of purchasing a submersible pump for a sump that will feed two IBC GB's of about 400mm deep. Have scanned through numerous posts on this site and returns from google searches. Firstly for you seasoned growers, have you found paying the extra(say double that of a cheap model) has out weighed cheap pumps in life and power consumption? Secondly for the Aussies can anyone recommend any of the pumps that we would find at say Bunnings or alike? Or do you have any sites that you have had a win with? From all the feedback of post some names that I assume are trusted are Jebao, Resun, Rio and Aquapro. Any more I should take note of? Thanks. |

The power difference is a readily available figure and can be used to calculate the years cost of running the pump. As for "will an expensive pump advantages out weigh the price difference", it really depends on which cheaper brand. A lot of the time you are paying for an additional year or two on warrantee, but in some cases the cheaper pump is just crap/unreliable. I just bought a Laguna maxflow 5000 (5000lt per hour) for its 3 year warrantee, low comparative wattage, higher flow at head, and lagunas solid reputation. With that said, I also have the 3000lt aquapro pump from bunnings, with the same wattage, which has run just fine, 24/7 for over a year now, and was between 3-4x cheaper. |
