Hey Dakine, Is the water level in your FT or GB? Do you wanted it as an overflow? Or to keep the water level in your FT constant? You can probably look into other members system for ideas. Regards |

Small tank is lower than the BIG. I just want to recirculate and I have to control the level in the smaller tank and keep and keep it from overflowing and raft lettuce in the small tank. No fish in the smaller tank. |

Hi Dakine, If you are only trying to maintain the water level by pumps just have an equal or larger pump compared to your big tank with an overflow in the smaller tank for extra rainwater run-off i think. No experience with NFT so other members might be able to help more. |

Look like you have 2 pumps system. What I understand is your big tank (may have fish in it?) is low than NFT and small tank (sum) is lower than both big tank & NFT. If you can change the design so that small tank is lower than big tank and higher than NFT then you need only 1 pump from big tank to NFT then drain back to small tank then use stand pipe to drain to big tank. That way the height of small tank will stay constaint height. With your situation, you may use a submersible pump with float switch in small tank so that it will kick in when water is at a certain height and stop after water level lowering down to a certain level. You can try to adjust the level of water where float switch on/off by changing its mounting point. Cheers, Long. |

What is the highest point of your system? Do you need the small tank in the loop at all? i.e. you could drain under gravity from big tank to NFT then pump out of NFT back to big tank. Or if small tank is lowest, then big tank and NFT is highest, drain from NFT under gravity to small tank and pump out of there to big tank. The flow will always be what you pump into the high point and you just need to protect against breakdowns which might drain parts of the system. But we need a better description of your system. |

Id do away with the small tank all together. Pump from big tank, through NFT and then back to big tank. You really need to get some filtration before the NFT though. |
