Well I came up with an idea that Im pretty happy with.
Probably been done before but none the less thought Id should share it with you all. Yesterday I read somewhere that someone had a cap on their siphon that was transparent so they could watch the process at work.

Well today I needed an end cap for my new siphon. Not having the right size and not feeling like going to Bunnings, I thought id improvise till Monday. So I covered the end with glad wrap (cling wrap) . To my surprise it worked a treat and also allowed me to watch the siphon in action as the water slowly trickles over the top then builds momentum and develops into a swirling motion and then finally kicks into full gear.
