Just wondering if anyone knows where to find a 6mm check valve for air lines ??
Have had a look around on the net but cant for the life of me find a basic one for 6mm air line..

Most of them really throttle back the air supply... and aren't really needed... unless your air pump is lower than your water level... Forget the check valve... just make sure your pump is higher than the water level... |

It is lower than the water level Rupert as the noise it makes on the higher shelves of the cabinet can be heard in the house.. |

How about a high loop in your air line so it is extended above the water level |

Don't think that will work. Luckily my pump was above the water level and so was the air line but water still got in over the lip of the tank and almost back to the pump. |

Id believe that the water will travel up the air tube to some degree due to surface pressure created by surface area and return water but there would be a limit. I think Bear is onto it but as Arbe is suggesting, be careful. Id trial it by holding the air tube at different heights until you find a comfortable level and report your findings.

Or you could employ some teenager to blow air into the pipe and when they get tired they can have a little drink.

I am not sure about that size, but check valves are a dime a dozen on ebay. |

I am after a 6mm/ΒΌ" valve.. All the aquarium stores I have seen only have are the smaller ones.. My old man said he might have a fluid one we can try so will give that a shot if he can find it.. Thanks again.. |

I dont know about with the aquarium ones, but the check valves we have here at work have a tolerance that they can leak back. They are industrial ones working at much higher pressures, but something to keep in mine. A loop as well as a CV would be wise IMHO. |

Thanks resvs3.. Asked at a few places & none had any valves... Will have to chech on the oldmans progress in his search tomorrow.. Turned the pump off for 45min & watched the lines... All was good with the water only coming about 50mm above the water line in the tank so think it may be ok.. There is about another 100-150mm of hight in the line above that point before it starts to drop.. Thanks for the help peoples..
